One of the worse infact THE WORSE of the country's surgery. Staff members out of this world the worse ,most disrespectful, lazy ,uninformed disgusting attitude. If I can change my surgery never ever again put my foot in that surgery.
Avoid this surgery, unless you have time to waste and a deep well of happiness to deplete. They have botched prescriptions, diagnoses, and just about anything involving a logistical handover from one person to another.
On a few occasions they failed to fill a repeat prescription for critical asthma medications, all without explanation. I would arrive at the pharmacy, only to be told that the request had been refused without explanation. Each time, it sent me into a panic as to how I would have to stave off asthma attacks in polluted London. Twice, I had to go to out-of-hours GPs to obtain emergency inhalers. After one of these debacles, I obtained an appointment with GP responsible, but she contended she was on holiday when it was refused (a lie, according to timings), and that she didn't know which of her colleagues refused it (another lie, as their system stores this).
A couple of times, she explained that it was refused because I requested more months of medication (6) than was allowed (2). Given my decades of self-managing my asthma without issue, and the fact that preventative inhalers carry low risk of overdose -- I thought this was a no-brainer. Nevertheless, in this situation why wouldn't you simply dispense a month or two worth of inhalers just to get the patient through -- rather than deny him the medication altogether?
The GP's explanation pointed to guidance to reduce drug abuse by limiting dispensed amounts, but I could not find said guidance. Instead, I found online guidance designed to make it easier to provide medication to patients deemed "busy individuals" (which I qualified as) -- guidance they clearly ignored.
On another occasion when they refused to dispense inhalers without explanation, I later phoned them only to find out they withheld it because I missed my annual asthma checkup by a couple of weeks. They somehow could not see the irony in denying an asthmatic his life-saving medication in order to pressure him to come in for an asthma checkup. It beggars belief.
Also, they diagnosed me as a "COPD" sufferer in my records even though I've never smoked a day in my life. This made applying for travel insurance a joy.
In each of the cases above, outside GPs who had seen these errors openly questioned them. "Why would they label you as COPD?" is a question I got back from three GPs outside Allerton.
There were other cases including forgetting to assess my cholesterol levels on an annual checkup, and directing me to the wrong address to drop off a sample. Indeed, after my very first appointment they botched my height and weight measurements. I should've known.
Do yourself a favour and avoid this surgery at all costs.
Very helpful and professional staff! Especially doctor Ruth! Thank you
The vast majority of staff are lovely and helpful however one particular doctor is, in my opinion, intentionally difficult. Due to bus diversions I arrived late but was told of have to wait which was fine. After waiting for an hour the receptionist asks when I can be seen, shes told well the surgery ends at 7, so I'm meant to sit there till 7? The doctor was just just rude, if you cant see me then just so.
Doctors fail to give any advice, better of going and waiting at A&E then having an appointment here. Last 3 appointments have resulted in no advice being given.
