We have been to the bumble bee a few times with the family over the years but tonight was by far the best time we had there. The customer service was on point, friendly and made us feel very welcome from the start. The food was cooked to perfection and none of us including our children left a empty plate so compliments to the chef. Only downfall was......we thought the drinks were overly priced but the quality of the food made up for it. Definitely recommend going there and maybe trying the steak or mixed grill
My partner and I had food here today, I had a burger which was pretty good, my partner had the salmon which was terrible. Had to send it back, didn't have anything else as time was getting on, we did have a 20% reduction on the bill to compensate, but given that the main meals are two for one doesn't really make up for the shortfall. Highly unlikely we'll be going back.
I WISH I could give 0 stars!!! Today my husband and I were absolutely belittled and embarrassed at the bumblebee. It was the first time we'd been out without our daughter in over a year and were really looking forward to spending some time together when we entered the bumble bee, we filled out the track and trace form. We were then asked to wear our face masks. Both my husband and I are exempt from wearing face masks. We explained this and were told that we need to show our exemption cards. I explained that we certainly do not. My husband has breathing difficulties but was happy to wear a covering for a few moments as we walk to our table, however, for reasons I care not to reveal, I am unable to wear one. I've been quite anxious about going out recently in case I am asked as I don't wear a lanyard. Due to the nature of my exemption I simply don't want people to know or ask. I have been comforted by the fact that a lanyard or exemption card isn't lawfully needed and a simple "I'm exempt" is enough and should be respected.
Well today we were told that "if we are exempt, we should wear our lanyards" I explained that cards and lanyards are a choice and we don't have to show them if we aren't comfortable. The employee then told us that he "really needed to see our exemption cards." Again I explained that I don't carry one. He told me that I would not be allowed access without one. My husband offered for us to go get some form of covering from the car which apparently wasn't good enough. It HAD to be a face mask or nothing. I AGAIN explained that I can't wear a face mask and was obviously now quite embarrassed due to a scene being made. I was then told that restaurants were under strict rules and this was clearly shown on the way in to the building. However, THE LAW states that exemption cards are A CHOICE and are NOT REQUIRED BY LAW!!
I left the pub feeling like a naughty child who had forgotten her homework. It entirely ruined out evening and I sat crying in our car for a good 10 minutes! I've never been so embarrassed and now am again reluctant to leave the house in case a situation like this again arises.
Please educate your staff on what is LAW and not MEDIA! I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to anyone else! Especially as pubs are already struggling. Losing custom is something I'm sure you can't afford right now. Maybe losing a ignorant staff member would save you more money. 🤷🏻♀️
Atmosphere was nice and ambience was nice! The staff were very friendly and helpful too.
Food was not great. We had waited an hour for food, the restaurant did not seem busy either 🤔. My wife's lasagne was over cooked and mushy. I ordered a mixed grill (£22) which was gross. There was a cremated burger, a lamb chop that was raw around the bone and my 5oz rump steak was stone cold. The egg, gammon and chips were decent though. Although it is 2-4-1 it was not worth it 👎
Food very good, no or little heating very cold. Ladies toilet surface clean, strong smell urine. Staff service good.
