One of the most idyllic places I have ever stayed. The Dovecote is beautiful, very comfortable and the views are breathtaking. There are wonderful walks from the door and you are only a short drive away from Offa's Dyke , the Forest of Dean and the Brecon Beacons. Moreover, it's a wonderful place to be at any time of the year.

This has got to be the best holiday cottage that we have ever stayed in. It is beautiful!

Loved our stay here. Outstanding surroundings and the roundhouse is fantastic. Will definitely go back x

Beautifully built folly with fab views over the gorge. An ideal retreat.

We had an absolutely fantastic week in the Dovecote and loved every minute (except squeezing my van down the very narrow lane late at night on the first night)! We stayed in November so it was pretty damn cold outside but toasty warm inside and, with the Rayburn going in the kitchen, was a wonderful place to spend an evening. The lounge is on the top floor and the views are utterly stunning, you can hardly see another house from the top! We were lucky enough to see a deer just outside our bedroom window one morning... It really is that quiet and peaceful! The Boat Inn just down (literally) the road is a good stop for loads of good local ales and ciders and is in a picture perfect location, the Penallt in is lovely too, a bit more touristy but worthwhile on a Thursday night when they fire up the pizza oven! It's a perfect location for exploring the Forest of Dean (the cycling centre has excellent MTB and family cycling trails) and it's an hour to the Brecon Beacons (the waterfalls walk is highly recommend!). There are also some fantastic walks from the Dovecote itself, either following the Wye Valley or heading up and over to The Kymin via Monmouth. Also, it's definitely worth trying Al's Perry, a damn good one! Have absolutely no reservations in recommending the Dovecote, and we'll probably be heading back next year if Wendy will have us!
