The first and last time I visited was due to being unable to breathe (with what I thought was a suspected chest infection as I’ve never been as ill as that before) so naturally you go to A&E, this was before COVID. Reception and nursing staff lovely, however when I was seen to a doctor she was just despicable. No bedside manner whatsoever, no sympathy. She asked me to turn my head and because it took some time for me to register what she said, she was so impatient she pretty much just slapped me. And to top it all off, she told me to have “honey and lemon” in a drink - bearing in mind I told her I’d been in pain for a week AND drink that anyway daily. I really hope she’s not there anymore.

Ysbyty Gwynedd is a marvellous hospital and truly deserve 5 star rating. I have regular treatment here and the staff are extremely caring. I feel so fortunate that this is my local hospital despite being 24 miles from where I live. Those that need urgent attention are brought to the hospital by Air Ambulance which lands in the local park in the centre of our village. Full marks to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

Absolutely wonderful staff at Bangor. I went to A&E for my appendix, got seen within 15 minutes and within a few hours I was in surgery! Aftercare was fantastic, very friendly, helpful and caring staff (Conwy Ward) and good facilities. Hope to visit again the next time I'm ill 😄

All the care, nursing staff, doctors and ancillary staff was of the highest quality. I felt safe and pampered! Nothing was too much trouble. The only thing that could have been better was the food. I didn't always get what I'd ordered and I didn't like the fact that it's not possible to have, for example, no gravy or sauce. When I was on a no fat diet this often meant that I could not have the chicken or the fish as I did not know what was in the sauce. Fat free yoghurt is not available either.

On a much needed family holiday week in Wales, 8 hours from home, I found myself at A&E at this Hospital. At 1 am - whilst I was triaged and blood and BP taken. It was a long wait to see the Doctor but I understood ambulances took priority. Post lockdown I was obviously anxious about safety/being on my own without visitors but need not have worried. To cut a long story short, I ended up being admitted for 2 days, given an emergency CT scan before being diagnosed, monitored and then discharged on antibiotics and rest. From the start (the lovely A&E head nurse who gave me cups of tea in the middle of the night Waiting) to the end, everyone was so kind and caring and went far beyond what I had hoped for. Every nurse and doctor I encountered in A&E and on Conwy ward where I spent my time were first class. Kind and knowledgable I have never had treatment like this, let alone during a COVID pandemic. They made what was a frightening experience so much more bearable. Thanks to all
