An excellent last-minute two-night stay. We had to arrive after the 6pm check-in time and Trisha was so accommodating. The site is peaceful, even when it filled up on our second night. The toilet/shower block is wonderfully clean. Despite it being a small-ish site, it has THREE service points for water, grey water, and chemical waste! Loads of electrical hook-ups within easy reach of every pitch.
And sure, it might be near the motorways but you won’t hear them at all. And yeah, it might be under a flight path, but we saw one commercial plane in 48 hours. The rest were vintage planes or other light aircraft, like 4 per day.
There’s loads of OS walks straight from the site, too, so you really don’t need to even drive away for things like that, if you don’t want to.
100% would recommend staying here and we will be staying here again.
We stayed here to use as a base to visit Kent. In that respect, it is perfectly placed in the middle of the county and is a short drive from the M20 & M2, so also works for anyone who wants an overnight stopover before hitting the continent.
The site itself is set away from the main road, so road noise is minimal, but it is on a flight path, so be prepared to have a few jet planes going over. Having said that, the first plane we saw was a WWII Spitfire, so I wasn't complaining!
The site is quite basic, being a single loop road with pitches on both sides. Within the inside of the loop, pitches were two deep, although there was still a large clear area in the middle for family games or whatever.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. On arrival we were given the usual information, but that didn't tell us about the chip van or pizza van that turned up on Friday and Saturday nights respectively, which we would have made use of had we known in advance.
There is no shop on site, but there is a village shop nearby which will happily deliver basic requirements directly to your pitch!
The facilities that are present, however, are excellent! The toilet & shower blocks are incredibly clean, although there is obviously no accounting for the occasional camper who expects someone else to tidy up after them!
The toilet blocks include wet rooms that have a free shower, toilet & basin all in one room. There is also a laundry room with a washing machine and drier, plus inside and outside dishwashing facilities.
My only criticism of this site is the lack of recycling facilties. Even a separate bin for glass and cans would be better than nothing and this is my only reason for not giving 5 stars. So, I would definitely recommend this site, but please leave room for me when I want to come back!
Lovely campsite with spotlessly clean facilities, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The only thing which didn't work for me was that the closest pub was a 20 minute walk down a very steep hill.
That withstanding I'd use it again. Great site👍
Staff are very friendly, family friendly environment. Facilities I.e toilets are very clean and well looked after. Fish and chip van on Fridays was very good. Would go back minus the rain!
It's a lovely campsite, near London, nice place to escape. Kids enjoyed the camping as well. We will come back for sure. Recommend it!
