Honestly, as far as hospitals go I love this one. All staff members are absolutely brilliant, caring, thoughtful, respectful and they all know exactly what they are doing. The technology at this hospital is fantastic and the cleanliness is spot on. It looks and feels like a modern hospital as well, it is not run down in the slightest and it is pretty big too. Plenty of parking although I have to say that to park here it is quite expensive. But other than that it's an absolutely fantastic hospital.
The staff make the NHS
I have a family member who is currently an inpatient in this hospital, have been very unimpressed with the care she received on ward 11. She has been left in agonising pain as pain relief couldn't be given without 2 nurses, and after ringing the bell 3 times over several hours to get help was spoken to by a nurse as if she was a child and told not to ring the bell as another nurse not available, nurse also accused her of being rude !!. Due to now having an infection and fluid on lung she's now on another ward (21) and has said how much better the care and nurses are.
Despite many calls to ward 11 could never get anyone to answer, this isn't a reflection on all the staff on this ward but some need better patient attitude training and perhaps answer the phone.
Absolutely AWESOME! I actually have no idea why people want private healthcare when the NHS provides it for FREE at point of access!
I've been here twice, once on the private ward by my grandparents for kidney problems and again in the trust side for the same problems.
It became really apparent that the private side was making me comfortable than anything and disregarding any actual treatment (which may or may not have extended my stay...) which I did not like AT ALL. Not to mention that I felt the private side was aiming to be a hotel instead of a hospital ward and did not take my health concerns seriously....
The NHS side was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE :D For once, it seemed that health care was the primary concern and I actually got the treatment and consultation I had been asking for but never received on the private side. I also have to say that the staff from the NHS side seemed to have more experience, were more cheerful and were significantly easier to talk to compared to the private side.
The only downside is the parking which sucks for both sites. Even the people working at the hospital have to pay! Its absolutely ridiculous to pay to go to work!
Due to my experience, I would highly recommend the NHS services here and ditching private "for-profit" healthcare altogether!
I am writing this from my partner's account. After visiting the A&E services on November 17th between the hours of 12:30am & 3am, I was incredibly disappointed to be turning up for the second time with a tablet lodged in my throat. The receptionist & the nurse in the foyer were lovely but I cannot say the same about the professionalism of the staff treating me. I was taken into a small room to have my throat checked by a junior nurse/carer & sent back so she could get her senior to look. I had told her I suffer from anxiety & depression & this was the tablet that got stuck. Shortly after, I was greeted by her senior as all three of us went into the room & she checked my throat as well. Upon leaving the room, I was left there while the nurses talked about me at the desk within earshot. A group of female nurses referring to me as 'having hysteria' & joking about giving me flat Fanta was not the behaviour I expected. Now, I personally think this is absolutely unacceptable & disgusting & I have had nothing but bad experiences from this department. I would not recommend this department as it is clear it lacks professionalism & the nurses have a clear stigma & disregard for mental health in patients. I am truly horrified that this treatment is considered acceptable & will not be returning.
