My partner and I recently stopped by the Speech House for an afternoon tea treat and we certainly were not disappointed. It has free parking upon arrival including a charge point for electric vehicles. The building itself it is extremely grand with some superb architecture and history. Once inside you will instantly be wowed by the regal and grandness aesthetics and interior design which flows throughout the whole building. We were seated in the conservatory and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our afternoon tea came out very swiftly and included delicious finger sandwiches, scones and decadent cakes with a huge of pot of tea (you can also have coffee too). It was just the right amount and the tea washed it down quite nicely. We also had a brilliant and very informative chat with the owner who imparted quite a lot of history and knowledge of the building. One thing I found most fascinating was that it was situated almost directly in the centre of the forest. Overall we had an excellent time and would love to come back and stay in one of their wonderful rooms for a few nights next time. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the Forest of Dean.

Had a lovely couple of nights in The Speech House Hotel. The staff were friendly but also professional. Room really comfortable and well equipped, and a good size. The restaurant was excellent, both for dinner and for breakfast. The hotel has a long and interesting history going back many hundreds of years. It's such a lovely location too, with lots of places within easy driving distance, but more importantly there's the beautiful Forest of Dean to enjoy. We would most definitely go back to the The Speech House Hotel.

Always have a really nice time here. The food is so delicious.. especially the soup..its always amazing, and the Sunday roasts. All the staff are so lovely and friendly. I would recommend the speech house to anyone. It's just lovely.

A lovely old and old-fashioned hotel. We stayed in a suite with a lovely comfy bed. The bathroom was poor, loo wouldn't flush and took AGES to refill. Shower over bath and PLENTY of towels ! Fire evacuation plan showed our route out as through a brick wall. Nice restaurant, in the old courthouse. Most of the food was very good save for the Welsh beef rump steaks priced at £22. One was inedible but the chef gave us 2 free coffees as "recompense". At 6.40 am we were awoken by a loud engine or pump type noise that went on for exactly one hour. This was even louder on the landing where we went to investigate. Covid precautions were very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall we were a little disappointed with our stay at this hotel which promotes its fine dining.
