Lovely atmosphere and good menu. The rooms are absolutely great and have everything you need for a few nights away. Location is wonderful as really close to the city centre but still secluded from busy roads or nightlife. We stayed in the days around our wedding and loved everything about it. We didn't mention we were getting married but obviously attracted attention walking in-and-out with a wedding dress and suit. Upon our return in the evening the staff had left a bottle of champagne and note in our room to congratulate us. A lovely personal touch.

Last year we had a wonderful Xmas dinner here. This year it was much worse. We didn't get any chestnut stuffing or cranberry (as per the menu), and when we asked about it, we were given the bill with a bottle of wine added to it (which we hadn't ordered). Sneaky! In the end this was removed and we only got £4 off the turkey dinner (costing £37). Really upset by such sub-standard food and service as this place used to be so good!

Food was amazing! We were really well looked after by Adam and the rest of the team (who were all rushed off their feet adhering to the new covid restrictions). Beautiful pub, lovely hardworking staff, extremely clear safety measures that didn’t spoil the atmosphere and delicious food! Couldn’t recommend more!

The Wykeham Arms, Winchester is an interesting building filled with old military artefacts. Lots of different sized pewter tankards on the walls. One room had an original school desk by the bar with an ink well space. Staff very friendly and obliging, helping customers to be covid19 aware and pointing out the directional arrows to follow to maintain social distancing. The pub is part of the scheme supported by Government to keep restaurants open. I enjoyed my meal of haddock and chips. The peas were mashed garden peas with mint and the tartar sauce appeared freshly made. My only small reservation would be, if I had paid full price for the meal, I would have considered it a little over priced. Perhaps the batter on the fish was a little overcooked. I would still go back.

Been a number of times to this pub but first time in the 'covid' period. They had set it up really well, the pub still had a good atmosphere, service was prompt and food was excellent. It was actually probably my best visit so far which is quite a feat given what they are going through!
