My dad said he stayed at the same hotel 30 years ago and a few rooms have changed but most of it is the same. The same small electric heaters in each room, the same dusty furniture. If you are a multinational hospitality chain who is ready to completely rip out the interior of this “hotel” then, good on you. Otherwise, as a regular customer, then you should definitely avoid

Comfortable rooms with a nice view and everything you need. Location is perfect for exploring Winchester city centre and the cathedral grounds. Eric the manager was lovely and really cares about his guests.

My sisters and I stayed for one night in October 20. The services was very good and very happy with the Covid rules. We had two rooms with a fabulous view of Winchester Cathedral through huge windows which was lovely. The location is perfect for shopping on the high street. The rooms are a little shabby and need a bit of redecoration (thread bare carpet and some black mould in the bathroom) but other than that our stay was great.

Great value for money hotel. All staff really helpful and friendly. Only stayed one night and was made to feel very welcome. Good Covid rules, very clean and tidy. The bar is very pleasant and more importantly OPEN 😁. Luca, went out of his way to provide some lovely drinks for our anniversary.. We will be back. 😄 Thank you so much Mercure team at Winchester.
