The Rising Sun

Well where do I start, recived a phone call the day before my booking asking if was still coming. Turns out they had me booked in the wrong day, told me I could come in the original day we had booked but would be seated in the marquee not in the conservatory we had originally booked. So we arrive for our booking, our friends are all ready in the marquee, so we go through and have a look at the menu. There was 10 of us total, 2 different family's 1 table of 4 the other of 6. We fill out our menus and 1 person from our group wanted a starter, so up to the bar we went to hand over our order, while standing at the bar staff walking past not even asking if we have been seen to, when they finally take the food order it was stated that we are all together as we had booked together and was sitting together, so could all food come out together. After the starter. So back outside me go, 45 mins later the 1 starter arrives, followed by 4 main meals, 45 mins after that starter was brought to the table the remaining 6 dinners were brought out. In that 45 minutes while we was waiting our friends had totally finished their food, i went up to where the food had been ordered and yet agian stood there while staff walked past me constantly not asking if I had been seen. When the food was brough out I was a little shocked by firstly how small the portions were and secondly by the look of quality, I had 2 people order a *southern fried chicken burger* oh my god it was disgusting, wasn't a southern fried chicken burger at all. Was more a bird eye processed crispy chicken thing, both were left, my daughter had nuggets also processed, i myself had the lasanange, well it was vile, like a microwave dinner with extra cheese thrown on for good measure, the chilli was fine and the ham egg and chips also enjoyed. BUT*** when our food was brought out, we didn't have any cutlery, my husband went into the restaurant to get some himself after we asked and none was brought to us. When he went inside he heard a group of staff slagging us off. He come outside and told me, obviously I made a complaint but this is so unprofessional, the manager did give her apologies and stated she wasn't awear and totally agreed very unprofessional, but my husband said she was there when he went in. I will never ever be returning to this pub. AWFUL service PROCESSED food RUDE staff Avoid at all costs.

Terrible service,left to wait far too long for food. My Sunday roast was average at best ,desert (cheesecake) was amazing,although waiting an hour and fifteen minutes is ridiculous!! Overall the food was average and for the price you pay not worth it! But what has forced such a bad review was the sloppy service,how on earth people are still booking here is beyond me,I certainly won't be coming back,and and I hope for the future this pub sorts out the way they treat their customers with a little more respect and at least try a little harder to make the customers visit seem a little more worthwhile!

Nice quiet pub. Friendly staff, good beer. Adequate parking a really nice place to visit for a quiet afternoon

A bit remote but lovely. Great food

I shouldn't really write a review about The Rising Sun as I don't want everyone knowing how good it is... From the guest beers, weekly specials to a top-notch Sunday lunch and excellent, friendly staff; very hard to fault.
