The menu was limited which I can understand through covid-19 I payed £11 for my meal I got 8 chips a plate of lettuce with 1/3 of a tomato and 2 slices of prppers the chicken was southern fried about 6oz i had a dip pot 1 x table spoon of beans and chicken gravy which was cold. My grandchildren asked for beans they got them in a dip pot and charged me £3 2 portions of chips in a small bowl which was over cooked cost me £5 I would not go again and recommend that nobody to go there for food , no value for money a side of the road cafe has better quality and value for money That is the first time I have ever complained I payed £70 and I could have made a 3 course al a carte meal fir 3 adults and 3 children better than that , we only had mains 1 drink each .

Our dining experience was off to a shaky start with the young waitress not complying with our order request for drinks. The excuse was 'she didn't dispense the drinks'! After some back and forth exercise we got the requested drinks and went on to order our meal. I had the salmon fillet special served with asparagus on a bed of new potatoes. My friend had scampi, peas and fries. My salmon was hard and I had to slice it as if eating beef steak so it was overcooked and had been lying around some time before bringing to the table. My friend's scampi was fine. It was just as well the final bill was discounted under the eat for less scheme as I would have not wished to pay £11.99 for the special mains. With poor table service and no table check at the start of the meal, I will not be returning any time soon. We were never asked when paying at the table whether or not we had enjoyed our meals; I felt certain the waitress already knew the answer....! Think they need to grasp that table service however socially distanced still requires an element of customer care and attention. Today that was sadly lacking! Very disappointing.

I came here with family during the eat out to help out scheme and it wasn't a great experience. The restaurant itself was fine and the staff were friendly but the food wasn't worth the money, even with the 50% discount. I'm not usually one to find fault with things but I had the chicken tikka masala and it just wasn't nice, especially the chicken in it. I got the naan bread as a side too which would usually be £2.25 and it was smaller than the mini ones you get from the shops. We did complain about this at the time but it didn't seem like the info was going to be passed on anywhere. I wouldn't go back to The Woodsman for food unless things improved but I'd still be happy to go back for drinks.

my friend and i visited today 5-00 pm one hobbled with bad hip....me.......friend limped replacement knee...all staff very friendly and attentive but zac made us giggle...i asked if we could finish our drinks outside and to have a cigarette........he said as long as we did not run off to car park without paying...as if...took us all of our time walking........he then came outside said he was just checking .....ha ha ..........how i wish we could have gone through gate to front door to pay.......he would have panicked........anyway happy to pay for such a lovely meal and well worth my visit from wigan...........thank you for the giggles and meal xxx
