The harbour/ Churchill ward, based in Blackpool is by far the most horrific, scariest place that I have ever stepped foot in. I visited a family member the day after they got sectioned and when I went to visit them I had to wait nearly 2 hours to see them. They got permitted to hospital to see a doctor urgently because of personal reasons. I wasn’t bothered at the fact that I had to wait, it was the fact i had waited all that time to see him, to be put in a room in the ward itself. I felt uncomfortable from the moment I walked in. When we got into the visiting room I had the patient who I visited in bits and on edge. I knew he wasn’t settled and comfortable himself in that room we was in. Not to mention I was terrified myself. The reason being to this is that there were other patients walking up and down the corridor and they kept looking in and trying to get into the room we was in. Also I witnessed bullying..... I saw a man collapsing and someone was booting his head in and there was no staff to be seen as he was outside. Not to mention screaming and shouting non stop throughout the visit. With me being a woman the men in there kept looking over at me and coming to the window I was in. They kept coming up to me to the window shouting absuse and flashing their bits at me. (When on a visit..... at least make the visit so that both the patient and visitor feel secured and put us in a quiet room so that we can shut off from it) I can understand how hard it is for the staff having to put up with it and I’m not slating anyone as I know how stressful it can be. But please hear me out! They’re only human. There living conditions should be bettered. They should at least have age groups and kept away from each other. It’s scary for some people in there. The ones who are getting picked on should be getting moved somewhere else or the ones bulling should be punished or moved away or everyone should be kept away from each other. With me being in there and experiencing it for a couple of hours has traumatised me. I can’t imagine how upsetting it can be for some people in there who are wanting to better themselves but can’t because there’s no peace and quiet and constant arguing and violence. This is why there head has gone because they haven’t had any time to be alone to think and to have a breather from it all. All day everyday can’t be mentally good for somebody who have already got mental health problems. It’s not fair at all. Please sort it out it’s not nice seeing somebody living like this. It’s mentally messing them up at the same time. One last thing.... there should be more staff on the ward as I didn’t feel safe on bit. Sorry for the review but I’m only going off what I thought 💭. WORDSWORTH WARD I have a family member currently receiving treatment and I can honestly say I have never met such a dedicated team of professionals who are so involved and committed to improve the mental health and well being of my relative. From the first visit I felt a sense of relief and could see from my own assessment that all the staff on wordsworth ward have made my relative feel valued and took time to get to know everything about them. I dont think there is another place that could achieve so much in such a short space of time. They are all focused on a positive outcome for each individual and person centred care and support with continued assessment. I can leave knowing and feeling they are in the best hands and I see it in the positive changes and behaviour. To all on wordsworth I thank you for your continued support and care you show not only my relative but our family.

The most pleasant hospital I have ever experienced. The facilities, cleanliness and catering were fantastic. All the staff, irrespective of role , seniority or experience were marvelous. I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the professionalism, dedication, support and care. Simply the best, I was made to feel so safe and secure. Surely the Gold Standard in mental health care. Too many lovely staff to mention but they know who they are. Gratitude and respect.
