The Moorings

To begin with the place looks fantastic, very open, airy & in a lovely setting. The welcome we received was warm. We were lead to our table. The material chairs had food on them from the previous dinners. The menu was strange. I’m not quite sure how to describe it, you had a selection of small plates to choose from, which anywhere else would be called starters... White bait, Calamari, soft shell crab (which I wanted but they didn’t have), sharing dishes such as 3 mini burgers, Italian meat selection, cheese selection or pizza. They also had chips with various toppings. There was nothing on the menu such as a single burger & chips, Children’s meals, steak, pasta on the menu. Don’t get me wrong, the food was lovely, it’s perhaps the sort of place you’d go to with friends to share & have a giggle over drinks. My friend choose the venue, if I’d have seen the menu I wouldn’t have gone. The food wasn’t bad. I had the calamari, it was missing the rocket & the mayo it can’t with was merely a smear on the plate. Not enough to be used on all of the pieces. We had to request as our food arrived before the cutlery was put on the table. I wanted to order a pudding but again, they didn’t have any left. I don’t drink alcohol, the alcohol free drinks aren’t listed on the menu and the choice is limited to alcohol free beer or AF fruit cider. I opted for the cider, which was lovely, a Kopperberg with ice, then I came to pay! I was charged the same for this at £4.60, as the alcoholic version is charged! This is extremely disappointing. Public houses/restaurants have a duty of care to its patrons. You’re doing nothing to discourage irresponsible alcohol consumption. I did query the cost with our very nice server (all the staff seemed lovely & helpful) but apparently that’s the cost! Unfortunately I left feeling like I’d been ripped off! I went during the dine out to eat out. In all honestly, I’m not sure if I’d have been happy to pay the full price for the food. Though it was plentiful, looked great & tasted nice, the menu was just too limited and the overall experience not good enough to command such prices.

Table booked prior to arrival and was ready right on time. Nicely social distanced from others eating in the restaurant. We ordered pizzas with a side of fries and they were ready in about 20mins. Lovely taste and presentation. We decided to have puddings and so were offered a box to take home the rest of the pizza. Puddings were just as good as the main. I'd highly recommend this place and we will be going back. Well done to all the staff.

Very reasonably priced food in beautiful surroundings. The staff were all very helpful and the bar is well maintained and clean. Very happy to revisit in the future.

Lovely setting for families and couple. Service was really good and staff were lovely. The food was over priced for what it was and very basic food. Would go back only for drinks and views

Such a tasty dinner this evening during social distancing! I love the take away initiative that has been launched. The romantic deal is great value for money. We have spent the rest of the evening enjoying the Bad Apple cider following our 2 pizzas and fries. We really appreciated our complementary fries! Thank you for an amazing meal. We will be joining you at your restaurant after this is all over!!
