Meadowview Cottages

My wife, son (18 months when we arrived) and I spent 3 months living at meadowview cottages and although we were moving into a brand new house we were sad to leave. Not only did we live at the cottages for 3 months it was during the height of CV-19 lockdown so we only left for the occasional food shop or towards the end of stay a walk through the fields to the village for what was described as the best carrot cake ever tasted from a the bakery. The setting is beautiful English countryside and the views are truly unspoilt. You are living on a working farm, something we never thought we would do in our lifetime and not only did this result in regular fresh eggs but an education for the whole family. Judith, Jim and family made us feel truly welcome from start to finish. If you are breaking the chain in a house move and looking for somewhere for an extended period then I’d fully recommend staying at Meadowview Cottages, judging by the hive of activity surrounding fibre broadband when we were their you’ll even have super fast wifi! I’m sure it would be equally enjoyable for a shorter break, away from town and city life. I just wanted to finish with a thank you to everyone on the farm, we really did enjoy our time and will look back in years to come and I can say that the residing memory of lockdown won’t be Boris’ daily briefings but 3 months spent as a family surrounded by fields, watching calf’s being born and a LOT of feeding the chickens with our toddler!!’’

Where do I start.... Firstly we were greeted by the lovely Judith who showed us to our Lodge (Larkrise). To say we were wowed is an understatement, I am not sure what we were expecting but on looking around it exceeded anything we had in mind. It was so spacious, clean, friendly, welcoming and had every single thing you could possibly imagine to need including towels in every room and views to watch for hours. Judith also kindly left us a personal touch which really warmed our hearts. Christmas had just been vamped up 100 notches and I could not wait for my family to come and share the experience with us. Every morning our girls got up and went to feed the Chickens (which we were also kindly left fresh eggs from) before exploring the grounds for the other animals. They were in heaven. We have never had an experience as incredible as our stay at Larkrise and will continue to stay forever more now. It truly is my most favourite place we have ever stayed and just made our Christmas the most magical one we have ever had. I cannot thank Judith enough for the amazing warm welcome and nothing was too much. An absolute MUST STAY.......

Amazing location. We stayed in larkrise which was really big and perfect for 4 of is. We could have had 2 more as there was plenty of space. Jim and Judith were really helpful with suggestions and even let us have s little birthday party for our girl and some family. Our kids had a great time feeding chickens and even getting to sit on a tractor on their working farm. We definitely hope to come back.

We had the best time here! Lovely welcome with fresh farm eggs :) Judith was unbelievably helpful (even buying a bed guard for our toddler) and was always around to fix any issues. The children loved feeding the chickens and playing in the backyard. Lark Rise is easily big enough for 6 people (and we had a big 4th of July party here too!) Thank you again for an awesome stay, we'll definitely be back!

We stayed here with two allergic children and our hosts Judy and Jim prepared everything for us perfectly we could not have asked for more. The only downside to our break was that the children wanted to stay forever, what more do I need to say? Many thanks for a fabulous tranquil relaxing break.
