We have visited many times. Its a bit of the beaten track but worth the visit. Excellent range of real ales and lots else to choose from. Locally sourced produce in many cases and friendly staff. It's a proper pub with real people. Burgers are excellent and so are the steaks. Quite spacious inside which is nice. Choice of bar area or restaurant. We like it in the bar area. Sensible pricing and good value.
Went as a work do with a group of 8, was pretty quiet which helped a quick service. Ordered the batata starter which was delicious & the pumpkin pasta was a favourite, though slightly oily. One of my friend who had never tried it before also loved it. For drinks, I mostly had gin and the choice of hind was good too.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch and chose the chateaubriand from the menu.
In short..., epic..!
A fabulous piece of meat and the chef cooked it to absolute perfection.
And the dessert perfectly rounded off the gastronomic experience.
Front of house and bar/table service was impeccable so would I recommend the establishment, most definitely..., a hidden gem.!
Such a shame this pub is cold and unwelcoming. After a walk across the fields, we popped in for a coffee, the fire wasn’t on (mid November) and staff weren’t bothered when I commented. There is no welcoming smile or a hello when ordering from the bar. The village is beautiful and the pub looks so inviting from the outside but it’s lack of customer service is dire.
We (5 adults, 1 child) visited for Saturday lunch, and were not disappointed. The meals we all had were delicious, well presented and very tasty. Reasonably priced too for the quality of both the food and the surroundings. A true old fashioned English good food pub.
