In the area visiting a friend and thought we would stop for a drink.went through to the garden and i went to bar to order our drinks,the bar was quiet so while I was waiting to be served the manager very abruptly told me to move back away from bar,and again when my drinks were being served..I work in retail and understand the policies of course I do but I was made to feel like a child..there are ways of asking people . Again we witnessed his bad attitude in the garden where two ladies had bought a dog in...out he marched rude and sarcastic,..apparently there are signs "everywhere"..stating no dogs,we purposely looked on way out and couldn't see one anywhere!....he then sent the chef out to tell them to drink up and use the back gate when they leave. We would of happily spent another hour in the lovely garden in the sun but didn't feel we wanted to after our experience with him..in future when visiting I will be sticking to the Earl of Dalkeith where the staff were far more welcoming....

I came for a meal with my family and was very impressed. Lovely friendly staff, strict Covid rules which made us feel very safe. Our food was hot and delicious. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit.

Went to the peacock today with 4 of my friends , we were greeted by the landlord pat and his assistant Hannah who were both very welcoming, we ordered our food and it didn’t take long before we were eating it which we all have to say was delicious very good service and food we will definitely return

Visited again today and very impressed with both the food we had and the covid regulations implemented and fully explained by the staff. The manager and waitress provided excellent service as usual which is why we return regularly. Excellent pub excellent staff would definitely recommend.
