The Earl of Dalkeith, if you don't know, is one of the Wetherspoon's chain of pubs. 'Spoons is my favourite place to eat breakfast. I will always give it a 5-star rating for their quality breakfast menu (even with the COVID-induced absence of my fave avocado muffin). BUT this was my first time at Earl of Dalkeith, and it is just as fine as other 'Spoons establishments I've been to and the young lady (Jo, I think? Shame on me for forgetting.) who served was so pleasant and helpful. I do wish the EoD would open at 7am instead of 8 so I could go straight to breakfast after dropping the daughter at the station. Even so, the extra hour for THIS customer is worth the wait.

From the start I was half hour late for my check in so arrived at 19:00. The room allocated to me hadn't been cleaned and neither had the 2nd one. 3rd attempt it was livable but stank of weed and looked like a hostel room. Don't know what was chucked over the walls to stain the paint. I could go into more detail but no point. Bed was comfy but obviously the headboard had been ripped off at some point. Bathroom was clean ish and TV actually turned on to my surprise, had to watch it with your head at an angle though as totally not straight. Overall you get what you pay for and this hotel depicts that.

Nice location, but food and drinks no so good. Prices are low compared to avarage, but are in line with the quality. I like the "app", that together with the nice location are the only rediming qualities of this place.

Good atmosphere well mannered bar staff can order using the wetherspoons app and drinks are brought to you nearly straight away well recommended
