Great castle! So much thought and care had gone into the halloween trail and decorations. Our two boys loved it and spent ages exploring. Great coffee and cake in the tea room too and the activity pack is still keeping them entertained. The gardens and maze were great fun too.

Lovely tea rooms, great birds of prey display and we loved the wild boar when we finally worked out where they were ( by the car park). Good castle to have a look around. Only took a couple of hours, not sure it's worth the £9 entry but was a nice visit.

This is a terrific castle! Even if you weren't big on the history, it's worth it for the views alone. It has everything - portcullis, spiral staircases, Mary Queen of Scots' chamber and more, but it's the sheer amount that's there and that's been made available to view that's tremendous. A lot of effort has been made to bring it to life, and there's the right amount of information - enough to tell you all you need to know without deluging you. Kids loved it - plenty for them. Well worth getting up to the top of the tower! Clearly access is what it is in a building of its age and nature but the extent of the building that's open is wonderful. Everyone will have their own thing - for me it's the wear.on the stone steps and the groove in a flat cobble on the route through the portcullis which must have seen a lot of wheels! £31.50 for 1 adult and 3 children and well worth it. You need a good three hours minimum and it's worth wandering round the village or the local walks too, or the other nearby dales villages of Carperby and Redmire or any of them really. It won't disappoint!

The castle was very interesting and it had a good variety of entertainment. The staff was friendly and helpful. We especially loved the birds of prey. Well worth the visit!

This place was the highlight of our holiday. The staff were great, the castle was bigger than expected, very interesting & the gardens were very nice & well maintained. The falcony was very good & very well organised & also the boar feeding & talk. For £9 it was well worth the money, just the tiolets could do with better cleaning (webs) You need at least 3 to 4 hours there if you visit the lovely tea room & the shop. There is a parking meter but you get your £2 back when you get your tickets.
