Great pub, consistently delivers quality beer, service and food. Good choice of ales, but the Cumberland is always good. The chips were delicious, and my wife assures me the fish is fresh and excellent, as was the soup. They were great and patient with our children. My one and only criticism is it would be great to see 1 or 2 vegetarian options, such as a pie or burger. But other than that top notch as always!

Amazing food in a lovely village pub. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was superb and very reasonably priced. I had the steak and it was cooked to perfection! It was so lovely to be able to eat outside and take in the beautiful surroundings. Top marks!

Friendly, welcoming staff. Exceptional food. Rooms spotlessly clean although bathroom needed a little tlc black mould behind the taps & cracked hand basin but this didn't put me off. Lovely thick white fluffy towels. Ate in the restaurant both nights 1st night dogs were in the restaurant which was a bit off putting. I have no problem with dogs in the bar area but kept on the floor not on seats.

Great pub Walking Coast to Coast they looked after us very well on our over night stay. Great stop off point. Would highly recommend

This place is wonderful. The first thing to say is that it is extremely safe to visit this pub during these times. They are abiding by all of the rules and ensure that anything in the rooms and the rooms themselves are quarantined for 72 hours before the next guests arrive. They have a good one way system throughout the building and we didn't feel at risk at any point of our stay. It is a beautiful old pub with lots of character, set in a stunning location with a town just down the road if you fancy more pubs, restaurants and cafes. There is also a bike rental shop which is also fantastic just a stones throw away. The staff at the pub were exceptional - so friendly and always took an interest in what we had been up to that day. When eating and drinking there, which we did 3 out of 5 nights, it had to be table service due to the pandemic. The servers were extremely quick to recognise when we had sat down, even when outside and were very attentive. The barman was also quick to get us drinks when sitting inside and left us out milk for our room when we got in at night. The food is absolutely delicious and the drinks were always lovely and cold. It can be tricky to get a good pint in some pubs but not this one. It's always great and always in the right glass! The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean and it was always a delight to get back to it after a long day outdoors. The breakfast was lovely and there was so much to choose from. We had a brilliant time here and will definitely be back in the future. Would highly recommend.
