Overall, I was very disappointed with my stay here. My wife and I booked a room for one night following a recommendation from a friend and when we arrived were told that there was no record of our booking. The woman we spoke to was very polite and helpful and offered us another room.
Once in our room, we found a number of issues. The room was rather cold, despite our visit being towards the end of the summer and there was an awful smell in the bathroom. One of the towels provided had a few yellow stains, but this was replaced with a fresh set of towels when pointed out to staff. When asked about the smell, we were told that there had been a lot of rain recently so it was probably the drains.
That evening, we had difficulty sleeping as there was a loud tapping noise coming from the hallway. I think it may have been a pipe, but was not certain. I rang reception numerous times but got no response. Eventually, I went to the reception desk but couldn't find anyone to talk to.
The following morning my wife and I had a full English breakfast and were very disappointed. We waited for 40 minutes only for our food to arrive lukewarm. After asking for the food to be warmed up, we waited a further 15 minutes. The tomatoes were awful, almost inedible and sloppy and my egg was overcooked to the point that it felt like eating rubber. The sausages were fatty and chewy and the kitchen obviously make their own "hash browns" on site. These were very greasy and extremely undercooked. The outside was crispy and slightly burnt, but there was raw onion and potato in the middle of the hash brown. I also ordered a cappuccino, which arrived lukewarm and very milky.
As we were leaving I voiced my concerns to the owner who apologised for any inconvenience but said that "these things happen" and seemed very nonchalant about it all. She offered us a reduced rate on a return visit but, again, was very dismissive when I stated that we would probably not return.
There are much better hotels, B&B's and guesthouses nearby, I would personally avoid this place unless vast improvements are made.
What a lovely place!! The themed rooms are bright cheerful and spotlessly clean. Lovely comfy bed and fluffy pillows. Such a comfortable stay. The staff are so polite and helpful. Complimentary wine on arrival and goody bag on departure. I cannot recommend this beautiful b and b enough! Even during the pandemic this b and b went above and beyond expectations
Ignore the 1/5 scores. They have been made by trolls who have not stayed at this place... they are malicious comments following 4 in a bed, by people who ought to know better. I have stayed her 3 times now, and the hosts have been more than accommodating and helpful. Giving people false information is nasty and vindictive. So, please visit and make your own mind up, you won’t regret it! Your hosts are really nice people doing the best under difficult rules for their guests ... thank you for a fabulous stay!!!
Lovely place, very clean and following the guide lines very well, hosts are very friendly and helpful, breakfast in our room which were sandwiches of bacon or sausage,or continental breakfast, fresh milk in the little fridge plenty of tea and coffee sugar, will definitely stay there again.
Stopped at this cafe for the past many years as it’s midway between our home and our caravan park. Richard, and later Allison, we’re both great for us, assisted me getting in and out because I use a walker and there are a couple of steps. Food was good when Richard was there but delicious under Allison’s management. I would have continued to use it but the new owners wouldn’t let my service dog in so we had to find an alternative place to stop.
