Stayed at the old bank hotel as part of our mini moon. All the recommendations pointed to this hotel being one of the top 3 in the area. We had a lovely stay and the room was ample. We had everything we needed including a large flatscreen Samsung tv ( not the cheap ones) meaning quality and attention to detail is important to them.
One morning we met Andrea, (angel) she observed and gathered clues that we are newly married, made good conversations and gave us a list of places we can go in the area and began making reservations/getting addresses for us. She was very warm, very bubbly and couldn’t do enough for us. She came looking for us the next day to hear our stories/adventures.
The food at the hotel to be honest was lovely. We had been to Alchemist, Mowgli but found them to be missing the mark. The worst was Mowgli’s ( I will review separately)
In all the hospitality staff couldn’t do enough to please us, definitely recommend the hotel. My only criticism is when getting to the hotel there are some misleading road restrictions and cobble stone roads to encounter, followed by a narrow entrance into the car park. However where the hotel is situated is within walking distance to most places and also cabs/busses are on the doorstep.
Finally Marta took my booking and arranged a few honeymoon extras😁 inc.

We stayed here in September for 6 nights as I was having medical treatment In Oxford. It’s a lovely boutique hotel in the centre very close to most of the Colleges and within easy reach of Christchurch meadows. Our room was a mid range Superior Deluxe with a lovely bay window with a good view of the hotel car park the terrace restaurant and the church beyond. The rooms aren’t large but they are sufficient considering it is a restored historic building. It was very comfortable with an excellent bed m, quality bed linen and a small but beautiful en-suite shower room. There was some noise from the terrace restaurant but thankfully it didn’t disturb us if the windows were closed. There is a lot of unique art work around the hotel and it’s definitely worth looking around beyond the floor you’re on to check it all out. We loved the corner with the owners old beach photos with accompanying sounds playing from a subtle speaker triggered as you open the door. And the library is a nice quiet place to borrow a book from the extensive collection. We ate in our room for breakfast and dinner on most days as we had to shield in the room due to my illness. The food was very good and usually delivered promptly. A minor gripe that we had to ask every day for the breakfast in room card to be delivered so that we could order for the following morning. We had an afternoon tea in the room as well which was good but not particularly generous with the sandwiches. They have a small car park accessed at the rear of the hotel which is barrier controlled, it’s quite a tight turn to get into the car park from a narrow street. One thing I wasn’t impressed with was the tiny plastic see through masks that all of the staff were wearing. They hung down and away from the mouth and nose so they weren’t providing any protection to others. They may as well not wear them for all the protection they provided. We did enjoy our stay at this hotel, it is lovely if very expensive.
The Old Bank were so accommodating to our needs when we had to cancel our wedding venue elsewhere due to COVID-19. They stepped up to the challenge in our time of need, offered us an amazing venue and ensured everything ran smoothly, in line with the regulations whilst keeping a premium service throughout. The reception team were so helpful in allowing us to arrange for flowers for the ceremony at last minute and also in arranging for afternoon tea, food and drinks around the wedding in line with the rules. The food, service and attention to detail was exquisite and was, speaking honestly, better than the wedding we had originally planned. Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer there, so we will definitely be visiting again soon. If you are looking for a high quality, central Oxford hotel with good service, great food and a wonderful ambience, this is it.
