We had the most amazing meal from The Old Cannon last night. Amazing quality, generous portions and lovely personal touches. You can truly see the effort the local business provides for each customer. I couldn't recommend them enough!
Had fish and chips, fish was great, the chips were the best I have ever had. Made to feel very welcome, but safe. Would highly recommend, we were driving so just had a shandy which was really nice.
Very friendly staff and as helpful as could be. The beers on tap were well worth trying as were the wines on offer.
The food we had, as we stayed for 2 nights was varied and well proportioned and so nicely cooked. Have been on day visits, so have had lunch there which also has a good menu choice for a lighter bite, with extra sides if you want something a bit more substantial.
As this was our first overnight stay and with Covid-19 rules and regulations, we were told they could only serve continental breakfast, but as much as you wanted. Our first morning we found was a bit slow in being served, but probably due to most guests all arriving at once and only one member of staff taking orders and serving. So in these unusual circumstances I would not like to think this is the norm.
The next morning was better as we knew the arrangements and what was on offer, also not everyone appeared at once!
The rooms are very comfortable and there are facilities to make tea or coffee..
I would not hesitate to stay again. Very well positioned near the centre of town, but in a very quiet backstreet.
Love all they have done throughout the year to adapt to Covid-19. A lovely pub with friendly staff and their outdoor space is lovely. Even offer hot water bottles to stay warm outside
Fantastic!
