Reviews
The hotel itself is in typical Best Western style, and the building is a quaint, little one with a classic British feel to it. The rooms were clean and roomy, amenities were as expected, and the price was extremely reasonable. However, the five stars come from the absolutely immaculate staff working there. Never in my life have I met such professional, hard-working, and caring staff members. I was quarantined in London during the pandemic, and during my month-long stay at the hotel, I was greeted by name daily with smiles, friendly chats, and an absolute willingness to help in any way possible. The staff here made my time at the hotel thoroughly enjoyable, especially given the situation, and I will return any time I am in Bury St. Edmunds simply for the staff and the knowledge that I am in good hands.
We are staying her for 3 nights with our Puppy Rana. I decided to not go on reviews and come anyway and so glad we have.
The staff are so lovely and the gentleman who served us dinner last night was very helpful. He also did room service yesterday. He recommended Abbey Gardens to walk Rana and it was indeed lovely.
The breakfast staff this morning were very friendly and cheery.
The food last night was lovely. I would recommend the vegetable curry and the sticky pudding and ice cream.
Ok the venue is tired but thats not the staffs fault. Even the chambermaid was helpful.
Looking forward to dinner again tomorrow night. The restaurant overlooks the garden which has a bench dedicated to a late young chef who worked here. Also the outside seating area has patio heaters.
Lovely hot water for baths.
I felt compelled to write a review based on my positive experience during an overnight stay on Tuesday 22nd September.
The room was clean and the outdoor surroundings were well presented too. I came into contact with several members of staff, including cleaners and waitresses at breakfast time and everyone was polite and engaging.
As a result of my positive and enjoyable experience, I shall return in the event I have a need to stay over in Bury St. Edmunds at some future point.
Keep the good work up!
Our stay at the best Western priory Hotel was amazing! They couldn't do more for you, the manager Frank was great in all facts all of the staff where amazing the room in which we stayed was beyond belief the bathroom was actually bigger than our bedroom at home with the bath being on a raised platform with a shower over the bath towels on a towel warmer. Everything provided body wash, shampoo ect. The room had a full size branded hairdryer, full size iron and ironing board, a heater, a fan, extra blanket all sanitised and clean, and tea and coffee making facilities with paper cups due to current situations. The food at the hotel was absolutely amazing full price is on par with if not less expensive than the pub across the road but with the current eat out to help out scheme a bill with 7 people eating mains and sides came to just under 50 pound I had the steak from the menu cooked to perfection and the flavour was amazing! All cooked to order in the kitchen due to this our table was delayed as the chef had no room left to cook! Only took a half an hour wait and this was compensated by the manager honestly couldn't ask for more from the hotel! I asked the manager at 11:30pm if there was anywhere to purchase a bottle of water he said unfortunately not on the grounds but instead he done me a massive jug of water with ice and a glass to take up to the room.
Our main rooms where in the main hotel but did have family in the courtyard and there rooms where loverly to.
Notes for current situation,
Masks can be worn in hotel if wanted,
Hand sanitising stations all around hotel,
Book table in restraunt in advance to avoid disappointment as restraunt is very busy due to help out to eat out scheme, and can only be booked as tables of 6 max but will accommodate 2 tables of 4 next to each other but distanced if needed.
Breakfast was no problem at all.
Excellent room. Bathroom tad cold. Heater struggling but it was minus 3.. great reception and service..
