Had lunch here, food was good, pub very unwelcoming. That was in December 19, we came for lunch today 1st November 20, lovely fish n chip lunch and friendly staff. The gents toilet was adequate and clean, one bonus the exit door to the pub opened outwards, no need to touch the door after washing hands 😀

I came here by chance as an Italian tourist and I must say that the place is really nice and welcoming. the staff was very nice and helpful, i ate a burger, really very tasty, felt it was fresh food. the place is clean which is very important in covid time. the prices are in the norm, perhaps even lower than the competition

Tried the William Garland completely by chance, fancied a classic pub and was pleasantly surprised! They had excellent COVID rules and I felt very safe and looked after especially by Fiona who was a wonderful host and brought our drinks to us very quickly! This pub has a good vibe and the food was lovely. All round 10/10!

Nice recently refurbished pub (no smelly carpets!). Food was decent, standard pub prices. Bacon cheeseburger very nice, pastry on steak pie was a bit thick and tough. Cabbage let the dish down. However £4 pint 👍🏼 Very clean, good on covid regulations. Staff very friendly and attentive. Nice Saturday lunch would recommend for a drink in Caterham.

This low rating is for my experience of the poor quality of food on Monday Dec 14th. I wouldn't have thought it possible to murder something as simple and classic as a toasted cheese and ham sandwich, but the person in the kitchen (I'm politely preserving their dignity by presuming there were not a chef) did precisely that. Soggy, barely toasted bread, the minimum of tasteless cheese, a poor excuse for mayonnaise and a slab of what looked and tasted like the cheapest, processed meat, loosely described as ham. There really is no excuse for food of this low standard, especially now when pubs are more desperate for any customers, let alone happy, returning customers, than they have any been. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
