What a beautiful part of the world - very much enjoyed our stay here! Beautiful lake and surrounded by fields and animals next to the camping site - a real escape to the country. You can see the place is a working progress, and I suppose you have to expect that on a working farm (spoke to the guy running the place who is friendly and happy to help, even if busy!) so will be interesting to see what he does with the place. In the meantime, it's ideal for anyone who wants some peace, quiet, and a good walk nearby. Will be back!

We did not get a great impression of this campsite. When we first drove into the site it just looked like a run down farm. No reception, no names taken, just a man that said "camping?" and sent us to pitch anywhere on the field. Wepitch up in 30 degree heat with no shade (not their fault obviously, just providing context) only to have two young teenagers sent over to ask us to move. I explained we'd completely set up our 12 man tent and filled it with our belongings and that the man had told us we could go anywhere, they still asked us to move as the spot was reserved for the big bell tents. You can't really blame teenagers so we sweated it out and moved our tent. It would have been nice if an owner had come to explain they'd made a mistake rather than two teenagers but we moved and that was that. We never actually had the chance to voice our concerns as we didn't see an owner or worker above the age of 18 the whole weekend. As it turned out a camper van arrived and pitched up exactly where we had our tent so there was no actual reason to move us anyway as they clearly weren't reserved for the bell tents. Then once we'd finished our second pitch up we noticed a fire burning in the dry grass behind our pitch. It went down so deep in the grass that it had obviously been but ing for a LONG time and it took 15 gallons litres of water to put it out. This seemed ridiculously dangerous and it's lucky we spotted it on a or, dry day after putting out tent up right next to the small fire. Again, no owner to inform about the hazard. We poured water on it as slowly as possible, seeing no other option, ash and steam exploded everywhere and the fire took a while to put out to the point we felt safe to leave it unattended. Yes the lake next to the field is beautiful, but there are piles of broken furniture, piles of rubble, one toilet to share amongst a handful of tents and the loo roll was always empty by evening. Broken mirrors and cleaning and painting equipment stored in the toilets. I've camped my whole life and we're pretty casual people, but this place took the biscuit. We had a great weekend, but only because of the company.

AVOID. Having booked a couple of weeks ago, texted on the morning of the visit to advise they were cancelling due to some of their previous guests. If you dont want my booking dont leave it to the same morning after preparation made, shopping done etc. They dont deserve your custom

The lake is beautiful! Lovely view to wake up to on a sunny day. The site is in a quiet area with woods nearby for exploring. The site is next to a big road but it is set back off it and there is not a lot of traffic. There is a little pub down the road and a local brewery. The site is simple but has the necessities for a short stay and I think it is fair value for the price.
