Very rude staff and very bad service. Every time I call there excuse is down to the coronavirus. According to their website they don't deal with the coronavirus, you have to call 111 or 119.

I think some of the criticism of the surgery is harsh. Houghton is a growing town in which the planners have lost sight of any proper infrastructure. The surgery staff are doing the best that they can and I've always found them to be helpful (although Tim can be quite abrupt and a bit "jobsworthy" - maybe work on that, Tim) If you need an appointment, you need to call when the surgery opens the telephone lines - yes, it may well be engaged, and like the hundreds of other patients you just keep redialling until you get through. As someone else said, if you are courteous to the receptionists they will be courteous to you - if you aren't then you need to ask yourself why they should be! Nurse Penny is really good - incredibly efficient and friendly. Also Adele on reception has always been really helpful - although, on the whole I have found the receptionists to be helpful. Let's be honest though, they cannot give you what they do not have - if they don't have any appointments, that isn't their personal fault - perhaps we should all be lobbying our government much harder about the cuts to the NHS (the whole county/country is experiencing a shortage of GP's - but with some of the reviews left on here, are you surprised??) Thank you, Peel Street Surgery - you are working in a tough climate and doing your very best!

I recently lost my wife and the surgery have been nothing but obstructive and neglectful reception unhelpful and uncaring Avoid this surgery

Receptionist not friendly. Gp practitioners nor much helpfull . A lot of waste of time( weeks) until you get a proper treatment , if this will ever happen. Do yourself a favour and register to a different medical center.
