Typical lovely rural cottages. Beautiful surroundings. Close to miniature railway. Easy drive to Scafell Pike or harder walk. One downside is it rains, a lot.

Great location for walks and a base to see the surrounding areas. You can catch the lal ratty from here (0 guage railway). We think the weekly costs aren't bad for the area. Pubs are a minimum 20minute walk(that is until the George re-opens which is 5minutes away) most do good food. If you like log cabins(also cottages) give it a try.

A fabulous base for exploring the Western Lake District. The cabins are comfortable, cleaned and maintained to a high standard. Internet access is good, however mobile phone coverage limited which suits us in this quiet valley.

Exactly what you want from a small country cabin, don't expect all the mod cons but really if you are heading out to the lake district I doubt you are after mod cons! Nestled in a cracking spot for walks too
