The place itself is a lovely place to stay, aside from our room being directly above where people smoked out of the front of the building which resulted in our clothes smelling of smoke after our stay. What was really disappointing is that the hotel took no responsibility of this and to make it worse, charged £150 to my card and claimed that it was in fact myself that was smoking in the room. Very disappointed that this could not have been dealt with accordingly and that the staff refused to acknowledge that directly below our room was the smoking area. If anyone stays here make sure you keep the windows shut so as you don't incur a fine that wasn't even justified! Clearly didn't have smoke alarms as surely they'd have alerted the staff to anyone smoking in the rooms.

4 of us went for a meal, 2 omnivores, one pescatarian and one vegan and we all had a delicious meal. There was a vegan choice on the menu but one of the items that could be veganised wasn't available. Despite that I had a couple of good choices and what I chose was fabulous. It would have been nice to have a vegan dessert choice but few places do so that's not a reason to mark them down. The covid precautions in place were excellent: staff wore visors, customers are temperature checked on arrival and asked to use hand gel. That makes it sound very clinical but once inside the setting was lovely and it felt cosy despite the tables being far apart. For anyone nervous about eating out in these times, this is easily one of the safest feeling places I've been to.The only adverse comment was not a fault of the staff but I struggled to hear what our waiter said because of the mask and kept having to ask him to repeat what he said. For anyone who lip reads I'm sure the staff wearing the clear visors would be willing to take the order. I will definitely go again as we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
