Lovely little micropub. The owner and the few customers that were in made us very welcome. A nice mix of traditional and more modern beers on sale.

The Pump It Up in Belper carries the concept of the "micro pub" to its (il)logical extreme: I can say without fear of contradiction that this is the smallest pub I've been to in my whole life - inside and outside of the UK. I'd be surprised if you could fit even 10 people into this tiny little place. That said, this deliberately un-stylish establishment [there's simply no room for style] does boast a nice range of real cask ales, keg beers & real ciders, all of good quality and kept fresh. Staff was competent upon our visit as part of a pub crawl between Derby and Belper, but the Pump It Up is the right place for a quick pint, maybe two - but certainly not one to linger. Two other micros in Belper, the nearby Belper Tap and The Angels Micropub, are not quite so micro - and thus much more pleasant and relaxed, while boasting an arguably even better range of ales.
