Stayed a night and the room was very reasonable. It was simple but spacious, with a separate lounge/kitchen and had all I needed. The pub has small rooms and was very friendly, with a good atmosphere and open fires. (I was disappointed to see they'd got a telly.) There was a simple food menu and a local band the night I was there, which was a bonus. If you want an old fashioned pub and nothing pretentious, you'll like it. Great location for local walks too.

Stayed last weekend, felt very welcome from the second we walked into the pub, food is amazing and excellent value for money. Cottage is great and is a great base, very local to any walks. Would recommend this place to anyone and we will be back again. Thank you

Popped in for a meal on our last day camping at middle hill farm. It looks a little run down but don’t let that put you off. The land lord was very friendly as where the locals. What we ordered was nice, we asked for a salad instead of peas for one of our meals and it was no problem. The salad was first class. The gravy boat (jug) that came with the steak pie was huge 😃. The landlord was very knowledgeable about the origins of the pub that used to be a jail and told the stories very well. If you’re in the area then it’s worth a visit.

fantastic little pub an myself and wife cant wait to come back soon. Trevor is an amazing host with good ideas, regulars are very friendly too. went in every day for the 2 nights we were staying across the road at middlehills. we wish you well Trevor an we will see you again soon
