Booked Christmas week 2018 here for a family of 10, to celebrate Christmas. As the description and pictures looks ace! The pictures are deceiving as they are taken with a wide angled lens, making everywhere look huge, the games room is actually the entrance hall! When we walked in all you could smell was frebreeze all over, hiding the smell of a nursing home! The kitchen is quite small and it was not clean at all, the fridges were disgusting. The extractor fan was disgusting and The filter blocked. The vendors did offer to get it cleaned, but it should have been spotless before we arrived. We cleaned what we had too ourselves. We kept finding things belonging to the vendors in cupboards all over the place, the games room cupboards were full of stuff? Looks like they lived in it when they had no bookings! The Bain Marie in the dining room had grease in the bottom of it. The swimming pool settee's had mould behind them, our grandson lost a small toy under one of the settee's! I went to retrieve it and got covered in muck, these hadn't been cleaned underneath for ages. The master bedroom is massive, but the gas boiler makes that much noise it keeps you awake at night, we turned the heating off at night to get to sleep. There was more but you have enough to know we won't be back!

Nice place peaceful landlord very pleasant good base for visiting the peak district nice indoor swimming pool all nice and clean. Just had return visit to southern southwood chase first week in March just to say well done to the landlord on the upgrades to the property we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend nice and clean and the landlord was very helpful.

A great holiday let, with nice clean rooms and a stunning pool, good sized garden and BBQ facilities coupled with a ridiculously nice owner who is more than accomodating. Great for kids and large groups.
