3rd visit since it opened (as the Fallow Deer). Something just isn't right with this pub; Long wait times, average food and a sense you've been forgotten about. Large open room format is OK, but can be noisy if there are "unhappy" children present. The best way to sum it up is.. this place is convenient, but it wouldn't last long if there was competition within walking distance.
We came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch. These guys are doing a fantastic job with their social distancing measures ensuring safety of both the customer and themselves. We were able to dine in complete comfort, the service was friendly and the food was good. Obviously it was quiet when we visited so not sure what it would be like at busier times with maintaining crowd control but I imagine they would do their best to maintain safety.

Very welcoming on arrival. Hand cleanser easy to get at. Called en route to hope. Decided on lunch. We had beer battered fish n chips, and it was delicious. Staff friendly,lovely Charlie Williams takes you a table n banters with. So funny. Cheers you up. Toilets spotless and the whole place was warm and clean. The wine n beer was good. Glad we called.
Newly refurbished, good social distancing, friendly polite staff and the meal was very nice too. A nice run out, alo g A6, turn left to go to Buxworth Basin. Lovely walks along canal. Take road through Chinley to get to Fickle Mermaid.
