The grounds and building exterior are amazing. There's a bit of a nature hike if you walk to the bottom of the (beautiful) gardens and then go towards the golf courses. The trail hugs a steam and reminds me of some of the mountain trails in NC. Too bad it only takes maybe half an hour to finish. The building is also absolutely gorgeous. However, it felt like the hotel management didn't really try to give the inside any historical touches. The history of the building is described in a series of posters along a hidden hallway, and most of the inside is decorated like any standard Marriott. There's some nice exposed stonework, the entry rooms have some wood paneling, and some of the windows are lovely stained glass. But the bulk of the interior was a bit of a letdown. I guess this hotel is catering mostly to their golfing guests, and focus on maintaining the golf course rather than the building itself. The result is that this is definitely not what I'd call a romantic getaway (unless you stay exclusively outside?)

We stayed at the Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel & Country Club for two nights. We had a suite in the original building which was spacious and full of character. The hotel itself is in a beautiful setting with a golf course. The front desk staff were superb. They explained everything to us regarding the current restrictions and sent our additional requests to our room straight away. The two dinners we had were very good and the service was also good. The first breakfast we had was good with great service but unfortunately, the second breakfast was a disappointment. The service was poor and the breakfast took over half an hour to arrive and was cold. However, this did not spoil our overall stay which we really enjoyed.

Waited over half an hour to get a drink at the table service only bar. The evening meal menu consisted of sandwiches, burgers and fish and chips. The only thing I ordered was cheese and biscuits which included Nice (sweet) biscuits with the waitress failing to collect my wine order after requesting the wine list. To top it off the food was late. The room was adequate and the surroundings fantastic, but the Cast Iron bar and restaurant I can only describe as like a fast food restaurant with poor service - not a restaurant you would expect at a four star hotel, more like a Premier Inn. Whilst we raised the issues with reception at the end of our stay and were compensated, we will not be returning anytime soon.

Lovely hotel, good golf courses (priory holes 8,9,10 and 13 seem to have been squeezed in and don't really flow!) Moorlands course is great as it's playable all year round. Could do with the health centre and bar reopening soon!!!

Booked as a 2 day golf break excellent value, two totally different courses The Priory being my favourite however it is quite a challenging walk. Hotel was good and evening meal had a balanced choice on offer. All in all a good experience.
