Stayed in camping pod yesterday, went for an evening out with a few friends. Had a fab stay here and would highly recommend Ernests Retreat. Accommodation was immaculate, shower/toilet block immaculate. Friendly welcome on arrival and take away pizza service delivered to site. Great time had by all and will definitely go back again. Stunning scenery and great location for everyone.
Realitively small site so perfect for not being too crowded etc. Stayed in the rambler pod and it was ideal for a couple. Very warm even though it was wet and cold outside and that was without the heating on. We was always out for too long so didn't get back before the very little shop closed at 6, but it rents out fire pits for £5 which I think is very cute/ good price! Toilets were clean. Would stay here again.
Out of all (over 30) the camping/glamping sites round the UK we have stayed in, this one is by far THE BEST out of all of them. I wish we came for more nights. We had this cute little dwarf house with a beautiful landscape view! Plenty of space inside which was a surprise
We all had a nice time, amazing beautiful settings. Just a few things that could be improved the gentleman on the telephone for Ernest seemed a little annoyed we called when we arrived as we didnt know where to park. 1st the satnav took us to the glamping site further along the road so we had to turn around. The sign for Ernest Retreat is camouflaged in the stone. It's on Burma road. Also it's not the first small car park on top as u arrive, no signs to say you need to go to the bottom of drive to the next car park. Noticed there was a landline number to call back near top when u arrive but its a bit of a faff when you've had a long drive hence calling the mobile as it was on speed dial for Ernest.
Friendly lady greeted us and gentleman. We had to wait a while to get fire pit as I think they were a bit busy. We were quite hungry. Radiator could have been hotter for night time as temp did dip. Quite mild temp even on highest setting. The hot water in the ladies toilet was BOILING not at right temp for children to wash hands nor wash teeth. We had to pay double for fire pit. We thought £5 was for pit and wood but isnt so best to bring extra. Only freezer on site. However all in all it was a nice stay 😊
Last minute booking for the evening and it was just so beautiful! The views are breathtaking, genuinely picturesque and Peter was so friendly, he put the heater on for us so it was warm when we arrived and then later when we went exploring the farm he chatted to us about the history of the farm and let us visit the cows, Summer is such a friendly dog too!
The facilities were lovely and clean and warm which is always welcomed on a campsite in January and the supplies room had lots of day out ideas, local menus and even a freezer.
Tea and coffee and kettle in the pod was such a nice idea too. A wonderful find and we have already looked at booking again!
