Great location just outside Matlock. Reasonably busy when we visited but bushes / trees created shelter so didn't feel too crowded / noisy. Toilet / shower block was immaculate. Good walks nearby, including loop via Lumsdale Falls & Tansley (Gate Inn is a nice pub there). It was self-check in so just picked up a map and found our pitch but all were clearly numbered. Occasional road noise from A632 but nothing that prevented a peaceful weekend.

We've camped here for 3 nights. Well spaced pitches and lovely walks on your doorstep. There is hand sanitizer everywhere and the toilet block and kitchen area is cleaned at least twice a day which is great. Can't ask for better than that (except better weather 😊)

After spending 5 nights here at packhorse farm I can honestly say that it is one of the cleanest campsites I have been to. It is well laid out with plenty of spaces between pitches and it was nice to see the owners throughout the day ,they were always accommodating and helpful. Will be back

Nice, rural location and the site is well maintained, although the access road is rather bumpy in places. The shower block facilities are very clean but I do wonder if four toilets and three showers are sufficient when the site (50 pitches) is full. We were given a double pitch due to Covid-19 and were glad of it, it would be tight getting a car and caravan on the one pitch we felt. The site got noticeably busier at the weekend, there were a few groups of four/five tents but despite this it was still a quiet site.

Very clean, Covid secure, quiet surroundings, very friendly and efficient booking service, nearby restaurants and plenty of walking routes nearby
