Thank you to all of the staff in the maternity unit at Leicester General who cared for my daughter (baby boy was born by CS on 23.12.20), my daughter and son in law were full of praise for the staff on duty throughout their time on the unit. to quote my son in law 'there are some seriously talented people here'. You cared for them so well and I am so grateful and thankful to you all xx

The staff in this place do not know how to do there jobs as they have kept my partner in for over 5 days becasue my child is not growing properly this was mentioned 4 days ago and still nothing has been done about it considering they wanted to induce her so he can grow properly, they keep repeating the same things to her and acting on nothing. This place is a joke and i would not reccomend it. As i am typing this my partner is still in their.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Gave birth 6 months ago. The labour process midwife was brilliant. The whole labour process was completely fine. No complaints there. What I will say is the aftercare in the post natal ward was just shocking. I'm a first time mum and after care was zero to non. I had an emergency c section and my husband wasn't allowed to stay with me on the post natal ward so that was hard in itself being by myself not able to move. I hadn't eaten in over 24 hours and got told when I go to the ward I will be given some food. Didn't receive anything even after I rang the bell to ask several times. I ended up falling asleep with exhaustion. The poor after care led me to ask them to discharge me early. I felt as if the midwives kept coming up with excuses with me not to leave. At one point a student midwife sat with me just to watch me breastfeed my baby because they didn't believe me when I said he is latching on fine and I want to go home. At one point I didn't get to eat lunch because my baby was hysterically crying ( this was infront of a midwife who just stood there and watched me struggle to get out of bed and struggle to lift my baby and did nothing except roll her eyes and leave the room). When another midwife came and saw I didn't get to eat lunch she just asked me " well what are you going to do because I can't warm it up for you". Not to mention every time I pressed the buzzer for a midwife it would take SO long for them to come to me. This resulted in me pressing the buzzer a lot because I got sick of waiting. I understand they're busy but at times I was waiting 20mins + I could honestly go on for a long time about the aftercare but I would be here all day. There were times I was crying on the phone to my husband and no one would bat an eye lid or just ask if I was okay. If you're going to be a midwife show some compassion and don't be a heartless cow. I could only say there were 2 midwives that were brilliant for my aftercare and I won't forget them. Any advice I would give to future mums is be prepared for little support from midwives during the aftercare. Now I know what it is like hopefully next time I will be fully prepared to deal with no support. Its hard enough not having your husband with you for aftercare because of COVID. You would think you would receive better care but nope it was horrendous and I was so relieved when I got home. I instantly felt better emotionally, physically and most importantly mentally
