they canceled the operation twice when i am an pain every day . My partner have to take days off to stay in pre-operative isolation whit me 2 time . I feel the only think they do now its to book and cancel operation and send letters. Nobody care that people can have serios complication

Recently spent a week on the new assessment ward and wasn’t very impressed. The facilities are amazing and I have no complaints there. However the care and attention was pretty poor to say the least. As I was in a side ward and no visitors were allowed, it was very isolating. I tried to tell several different members of staff that I felt very down but nobody was interested. Saw a different doctor every day often making contradictory statements. The worst of all though was the complete lack of care - it took 3 days to find me a pillow because they’d run out! The only time my bed was made during the week was when my cannula came out and bled on the sheets, meal times were ludicrous - no choice you had to eat what was given like it or not. Lost more than half a stone in a week! Only one nurse even bothered to tell me her name. Was told I could go home so packed up and called son who left work, detoured to pick up my dog then made a 20 mile journey to collect me - arriving just as a nurse came into my room to say she had forgotten to tell me that I couldn’t go home after all. I have had several hospital stays over the last few years and usually stay on Benham Ward who cannot be faulted. The staff are amazing. So the above comments clearly do not apply to every ward.

Avoid this hospital if you can. My dad spent his last weeks of his life here and the care he received was diabolical. He drove himself to the hospital and was totally capable of looking after himself. He never came home and within 8 weeks he could not do a thing for himself or communicate in any way and we watched him die in that awful place. After an investigation Sister Jenny Scott has denied ever speaking to me or having a meeting with the family during my dads stay.
