I loved it. Thank you to the lady at the reception desk for being so kind, hospitable, knowledgeable and excited to take me through everything. Her English is amazing. It was also great to visit it mostly on my own that early that day.
It was a bit pricey (~£12) considering that they mostly display replicas and there are only a few rooms, no guided tour is included and you have to pay extra to get into the cellar where the dragons scene was filmed. But I still enjoyed it very much for a once in a lifetime experience and I'm happy I went.
Conclusion: If you’re a fan then it is worth coming and appreciating up close the remarkable detail put into the props, etc of the show, particularly in application to Split. Definitely not worth it for those who haven’t seen the show or not interested in the lore.
Pros:
- Staff very helpful and interested in maximising your experience not only in the museum but also the city
- English explanations were very thorough (perhaps direct quotes from a longer document?) and provides information that is not in provided in the show
- The replica are very well made and provides the viewer with an opportunity to appreciate the finer details of prop design
Cons:
- Expensive in relation to the size of the exhibition. Would hope that they invest that money in expanding on a great opportunity (generally seems somewhat temporary)
- A bit direct in advertising the merchandise but this is understandable
It's nice and well made, worth a visit. But it's also pretty small and thus I'd say the price is a little high for this. Everything is in English so it seems more oriented towards tourists. Beware there's no toilet and also kinda disappointed that in Corona times mask was not enforced in such a small closed space.
It is a small and in collaboration with HBO. As I understood that all the clothes a real duplicates. This museum will give you a sense of the TV show. If you are not a fan then do not come over!
It's fine as a little fun place, but they items are mainly replicas and some pretty average models. Would be fine for a fiver, but £12/100 kuna is a real rip off.
