In front of thebus station, really easy to find your way. Came from airport via shuttle bus, stopped at the bus station and bought tickets to the ferry to Hvar island at a small shop at the entrance of the port. Everything well indicated and easy. Split old town is literally 10 minutes walk.

Well organized, clean, everything is clearly signed and marked. Mediterranean slow-going state of mind. Staff and locals will help with every question you might have but you won't have much, if any 😉. Just look around and do what all others do and that's it. All in all - lovely sunny ferry port.

Everything went surprisingly smooth. We bought our tickets online (Split -> Stari Grad, working day in August, 11:30), we arrived to the port around 2 hours before departure and we were one of the first cars to queue for the ferry. You can leave your car in the line and go to the Split old town, which is nearby. Piers are clearly marked and the personnel is really helpful.
