Not worth going there ....try another lighthouse ;)

We parked our car before the asphalt road stopped. I would recommend to do that as well unless you have an Offroad worthy car. The nature is very nice but keep in mind that the lighthouse itself doesn't offer anything since it's a privately owned property.

Our stay at Marlera lighthouse has disappointed us a lot. In the present state, there's nothing luxurious or romantic. Despite the immense potential of a unique place like this, we felt its management is poor. I think that in the right hands/ with the right care this lighthouse could turn into a place of pure bliss. We had the feeling the Hosts forgot about us. The last communication with the Host dated back to 8 months before the day of our arrival, when I reserved. She didn't write me till the day of check-in and only after I wrote her, at 13:07, to advise about our arrival time. Check-in was from 14 onwards of the same day. Seriously? 1 - The listing says the Host always meets their guests personally, but for us this didn't happen and without notice or explanation whatsoever. Despite we all have our lives and sometimes the unexpected happens, it would have been obvious, not only professional, being in contact with us. 2 - The listing says wood and pellets are available to warm up the house, but pellet was not available and we had to deal with a fireplace not ready to use. Also, wood was wet and made lots of smoke. It was available mostly in big pieces, not proper to start a fire. My dad and boyfriend had to sweat chopping wood in order to start a fire. At night there were 9 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, upon departure, the Host came to the lighthouse to say goodbye and carried with him a huge load of freshly cut wood for the next guests. Good for them! Very bad timing for us. We found a cold house, a not-ready-to-use fireplace, a pellet stove with no pellet, nobody to show us around the house and the surrounding area, given the uniqueness of the place. The Host's father, a nice and friendly guy, in the end came (thank god) and he set the fireplace in place. So why don't just meet him when we arrived, since apparently in the meantime the Host was in Italy shopping sofas for his new apartment (he spontaneously told us about that) and his wife dealing with some appearently important medical exams in Zagreb? We wasted two hours of our time trying to light up a fire, instead of enjoying the gorgeous sunset sitting in the veranda. Why? I call it lack of care. Without even counting the amount of smoke we breathed, our bad smelling clothes and hair. All because the chimney was closed and the air intake blocked with cement. 3 - The second day the Host showed up without notice, not a single text he was coming despite he had my mobile number and we spoke over the phone the day before, upon arrival. We were in the privacy of our home, I was in the shower and my family getting ready to go out for the day. Last thing I would have imagined was hearing the knock of the owner at the door. Awkward. He said he wanted to check if everything was fine. Thank you indeed, but it would have more useful to have someone to come AT OUR ARRIVAL to make sure everything was fine, not the day after. 4 - Upon departure, check out is set at 10 but the cleaning lady knocked the door at 9.45. We had to insist that we were not ready yet and we needed 15 minutes more, because otherwise she wanted to start with the cleaning in the bedrooms. Why on earth?! Very annoying and zero professionalism. 5 - Bad smelling kitchen cabinets and drawers. Sticky pans. Blurred glasses. Stained plates. We had to hand wash everything we needed before usage. Blue mattress for the veranda thrown on the floor inside the summer kitchen, dirty and not ready to use. We where four people, but only found two sun bed pads. Flower boxes on the deck left empty. Basically an abandoned summer house at the end of the season. --- The price would be proper or even competitive if the hosting activity would be taken with more care. This includes precision, amenities, maintenance... For this kind of management, even 50 Euros per night would be too much. The Hosts are very lucky to own a gem like a lighthouse. I think it deserves more of your care to do justice to its value.

Very nice place, nice shore, clear sea! you can take a nice walk around and jump in to the sea as well. The light house for rent only, off-road car recommended, but we went a combi car to there...

Peaceful...no crowds, suitable for hiking and cycling.
