Mahalaxmi Temple is one of the most famous temples of Mumbai situated on Bhulabhai Desai Road in Mahalaxmi area. It is dedicated to Mahalakshmi the central deity of Devi Mahatmyam. The temple was built in 1831 by Dhakji Dadaji (1760–1846), a Hindu merchant.nBuilt around 1785, the history of this temple is supposedly connected with the building of the Hornby Vellard. Apparently after portions of the sea wall of the Vellard collapsed twice, the chief engineer, a Pathare Prabhu, named Ramji Shivji Prabhu, dreamt of a devi statue in the sea near Worli. A search recovered it, and he built a temple for it. After this, the work on the vellard could be completed without a hitch.

Ancient Holy temple. People have tremendous faith in this Mandir. High security. Bags are not allowed inside temple. Beautiful sea view from the temple.

It's a beautiful temple with serenity. This time of the year due to pandemic you can easily go for the goddess sighting. No prior booking is required. I went and there was no chaos. Everyone queued up for worshipping the Goddess. I was happy that I could get the blessings of the goddess. Don't take any prasad or anything to the temple. There is temperature check and sanitizer at the entry points. Again systematically arranged and following all the norms.

Very beautiful temple along the sea. Do walk to temple behind main temple where water touches temple and also has a very beautiful view of the sea.
