Kalarkod Mahadeva Temple is one of the major Siva temples under the Travancore Devaswom Board.When we enter into the temple compound itself we can feel the peaceful and calm atmosphere.Modernism has not so much disturbed the antiquity and the ancient temple sculpture.Recently a Gopuram has been constructed at the West Gate and dedicated to the Lord Siva on 07.03.2016.nIt is believed that in ancient days Kallyakroda Maharshi chose this place for his penance until Lord Siva appeared before him as Swayambhoo .Later Maharshi stayed at this place to offer his worship regularly.. Subsequently this place came to be known as Kallyakrodauram which in due course colloquially shortened as Kalarkod. Lord Siva was pleased to preside over here to bestow Darshan and grace to his devotees.

This is Siva temple run by the Devaswom board. The diety is Lord Siva. For the new generation Lord Siva is the one who has the License to love and Kill.
