A general degree college catering to the higher educational needs of students spread over the geographical area equivalent to a district. Students from far flung areas of the Sunderbans also come here to earn their degrees.nnHowever, the infrastructure requires upliftment for the betterment of over 5000 students who study here.

Basirhat college is the single degree college in basirhat town.The college is under Barasat State University.The college provides degree courses in Science,Arts and Commerce stream. Near by railway station is bhablya halt.Teaching stuff are excellent. The students are also very obedient to their teachers.Overall atmosphere is very good.

One of the best college of bashirhat, affiliated by west bengal state university.nIt is located on bongaon bashirhat road near falguni cinema hall.nnThis institution is well communicated with neighbouring areas by different bus routes, auto rickshaw routes and electric rickshaw routes.
