Spent my first year at this campus of my 4 year B.Tech course. Nice atmosphere. A bit isolated, but also quiet, slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the city.nThe professors here are very helpful and teach their subjects perfect to the smallest detail.

All 1st year courses are taught here..From 2nd year courses like Chem eng,PST,Chem Tech,Electrical, ECE and Instrumentation Eng. are taught in Rajabazar campus, Jute and Fibre Tech in Ballyguange campus and CSE, IT, Optics and Optoelectronics in this CAMPUS...nIf JU is known for quality placements CU is known for quality education and research....So it is best for those who actually plans to do phd from foreign univ. later....

The Calcutta University Act came into force on 24 January 1857 and a 41-member Senate was formed as the policy making body of the university. The land for the establishment of this university was given by Maharaja Maheshwar Singh Bahadur, who was a Maharaja of Darbhanga. When the university was first established it had a catchment areacovering the area from Lahore to Rangoon(now in Myanmar), and Ceylon, the largest of any Indian university.[6]nn[8] Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee was the Vice-Chancellor for four consecutive two-year terms (1906–1914) and a fifth two-year term (1921–23). Four Nobel laureates were associated with this university: Ronald Ross.Rabindra Nath Tagore, C. V. Raman and Amartya Sen.[6]
