Being an MTA customer that has lived in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and the Bronx, And having family in all 5 boroughs, I've done a lot of traveling back and forth from the Bronx to literally every other borough. For years I would usually take the 4 train line thinking it was the fasted route. For example I would travel 4 or 5 days a week from Staten Island to Kingsbridge Station in the Bronx and then back. I would ALWAYS take the 4 train. I would get off and on at Kingsbridge or Bedford Park and walk from Jerome all the way to Valentine. Instead of taking the D train which is right on the Concourse. For years I could have taken the D which becomes express in Manhattan which little did I know, I could take the D train even from this stop down to 59th St, and transfer to the 1 train and take the 1 train to the ferry and then reverse on the way there. I just discovered I could transfer from the 1 to the D @ 59th St Station two days ago and I will ALWAYS take the D train instead of the 4 line when traveling to the Bronx from now on.

How can you not love one of the oldest stations? lol City must take care of it and better sooner than later. If not it may fall apart the coming winter...

The mta machines here stole my money and I had to wait a week to get it back from my bank and also the metro card peddlers have stolen a fair from my metro with there swipe scheme. I hate that years ago they closed the furthest exits from this station, at least it has a train time monitor. This station needs minor reservations because unfortunately nothing stays good in the hood and why not focus on better service than money on advertising screens.
