North Santiam State Recreation Area

Beautiful fresh and clear water. The area is clean and well-maintained. It's a serene place for a picnic, fishing and swimming. The water is very cold, but that's the pacific northwest.

Good if you can float down the strem

Beautiful little camping area. It is first come first serve so if you are looking for a weekend get away be sure to try and get in early because there is only like 20 spots but it's great. Right up by the water, dog friendly, there are restrooms but no showers so small trips are best.

No reservations allowed, which means campsites are on a first come first served basis. That can be a good thing if you haven't had your camping trip planned months in advance, because a majority of state parks that do accept reservations have little to no vacancy... due to being booked, months in advance. Swimming/floating is good, but this isn't a place I'd recommend for fishing (too close to people splashing about). Only a few short miles from other areas of interest for fishing and/or swimming or floating.
