We stayed in site 1 right next to the camp host.nPros: Very peaceful site even though the road was right behind us. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Short 15 minute drive to gorgeous waterfalls. The swimming beach is a 5 minute drive. Very friendly lady at the visitor center.nCons: Camp host was not friendly even though he’s right next to us. Park rangers were not very social either. The site was not cleaned even though we arrived at check in time. Rusted tin can lid right in grass where you step out of the RV. Trash all in the fire ring and all through the site. No one enforcing dogs that weren’t on a leash. Neighbors small dog was attacked by a loose golden retriever.nI would stay here again just allow time to clean up when arriving.

An absolute gem. Highly recommend this TN state park. They offer various accommodations and hiking trails. I noted kayak launches, scenic hikes, picnic areas, grills, benches, restrooms, cabins, RV camping. Great views of the local dam and falls! Loved the history of the old mill and adjacent spring. Small gift shop at welcome center with neat keepsakes; clothing was reasonably priced compared to other state parks to which I have visited.

A smallish but beautiful state park. A wide diversity of views with a range of waterfalls and short trails. Attended a ranger lead hike of the nearby Big Bone Cave, a short but interesting excursion. The Tennesse State Park system seems to do an excellent jobs with these smaller parks that provide a more intimate experience than the much larger parks of nearby states. While both approaches have their merits, smaller parks do have much to offer.

This one goes in our list of top 5 TN state parks. Great location and beautiful campsites being the reasons behind that. Our campsite 45 was fully shaded and had lots of room for RV and a tent. We didn't pitch a tent but just wanted to mention this. Lot to do at Rock Island state park. Just a weekend is not enough. Planning to stay for a week during summer if I can get availability. Keep up the good work.

Large tree shaded level lots. For people pulling trailers be careful pulling through the checking station because there is a wooden post on the drivers side that likes to catch the sides of trailers. Otherwise the trailer park is excellent, especially for those who like to trout fish: A river below the dam on one side, a stream flowing from a fish hatchery on another side. Very quiet. Family friendly. Very level area.
