The place having three ponds surrounded with chathuppu (cherttu-cheru) was formerly known as thruchettukulam was lately began to know as Thruchattukulam. This is a mahakshethram having panchaprakaras and upadevathas. Upadevathas are Ganapathy, Mahamaya, Rakshas, Yakshi amma and Naga devathas. There are many specialities in this temple. Festivals on the days of Bharani and Makayiram asterick days of makaram month are treated as grand festival days which are intervining during Annual festival of 8 days' from uthruttathy asterick to thiruvathira asterick days(both days inclusive).
