We had the fortune of coming to Dwaraka one of the mukthikshetrams in 1989 that too in the company of 28 devotees lead by Sri PSK Raman swami an ardent Ramabhaktha along his personal Deities. We left Delhi on 21.09.1989 by train to Ahmedabad and took the Okha passenger to reach Dwaraka. We stayed here till 30/09 and the stay at Dwaraka is etched in our mind. We used to wake up at 3.00 A.M. and participate in Suprabatham. Vishnusahasranamam , Geetha chanting. Dwadasakshari and Sudarsana japam , Srimad Bhaghavatha saptaham Tiruvaradhanam, divyaprabhandam and Narayeeneyam. We used to have darsan of Dwarakadeesh both in the morning and evening on all days of our stay.The temple was built by Krishna's grandson Vajranabha.Known as Jagat mandir there are two entrances to the temple.The flag of the temple is changed thrice daily.The Lord is dressed as achild , as aking and in garments of jasmines.56 items are offered daily and there are 6 poojas.An interesting feature of the temple is that the priests and servitors wear the colour worn by Dwakadeesh. It is red , pink,yellow green orange , white and blue from Sunday to Saturday.Opposite Dwakadeesh is a shrine for Yasoda and Balaram is seen in the form of Seshanaag.There are separate shrines for the astamahishis or the eight queens of Krishna namely Rukmini Satyabhama,Jaambavathi, Kalindi, Mitrabinda Satya and Badra.Situated on the banks of Gomati river the temple follows the Vallabha sampradhaya (Pushti marg) rituals. One gets the feeling of visiting a royal palace and the Lord invokes a sense of majesty unlike Krishna of Vrindavan who is everyone's playmate.
