In old days the administration was owned by the family of kottrathil sankunni. He wrote the popular aithihyamala, their family known as puthettu kavu, their ancestors of the family had the right to perform the rituals as velichappadu.Tuesday and Friday are the special days of the goddess. It is believed that pallipurath kavilamma is another form of bhadrakali. During these days, a lot of devotees visit the temple and chanting the hymns of bhagavathy till evening.Theeyattu is the highlight of the temple. This is a special kind of dance form which usually performed in bhadrakali temples of kerala, the ritual performance is performed by the Brahmans who named as theeyattunnis in the temple, this being a special offering in the temple for curing all diseases of the humans.

Dedicated to Goddess Durga, Pallippurathu Kavu is an ancient shrine. Devotees come here to worship especially during the Kumbhaka mahotsav celebrated annually on the 10th day of Pathamudayya.
